On the 24th of October the national ETIM organizations from Austria , Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland have decided during a meeting in Barcelona to found the international association ETIM International. The new organization will reside in Brussels.
ETIM International is founded to join forces in the development, maintenance, publishing and promotion of one European Technical Information Model (ETIM) for the classification of technical products.
An international online ETIM database is already in use and is the basis for further development. At short notice also the whole process of handing in and processing change requests will be managed through an online service portal, connected to the database. Momentary language versions are available in English, German and Dutch; Swedish, Spanish and French versions are in preparation.
The board of ETIM International consists of Marc Habets (director ETIM Netherlands, president), Franz Ernst ( President ETIM ETIM Germany, vice-president), Yves de Coorebyter (director ICGME Belgium, secretary), Björn Högborn (director SEG Sweden) and Pedro Torres (director ADIME Spain). Chairman of the technical committee will be Gérard Rovère (director ELDAS Switzerland)

The focus of ETIM International for the presence lies on the classification of electrotechnical products, but the association is open for entry of other related industry sectors.
The existing cooperation between ETIM Germany and eCl@ss will be agreed on international level, with that ETIM Germany in the framework of ETIM international will be responsible for the electrotechnical part in eCl@ss.
The name ETIM international is chosen, while already serious interest in the model is shown from regions outside Europe, among others Australia en Asia. Although the focus of the association is pointed at Europe this way participation from other regions is not excluded.
